PADI IDC Testimonial by Lucio

PADI IDC Testimonial by Lucio

Here’s the PADI IDC Testimonial by Lucio. Lucio staffed the February 2019 PADI IDC on Malapascua. First of all, Lucio is a PADI IDC Staff Instructor. He is trained to assist a PADI Course Director during Instructor Development Courses. Secondly, the February 2019 PADI IDC at Thresher Cove Resort had a big group. As a result, I needed somebody to help me staffing. On the other hand, Lucio had no staffing experience up till that moment.

After a couple of emails to and from, we agreed that he is the man to help me out. Most importantly, there’s no regrets. Lucio is one of the best PADI IDC Staff instructors out there. In other words, I can’t wait to work together with him again.

He’s funny, easy going but also knows when it’s time to be serious. Certainly he can handle the stress that comes with staffing. He’s been a great asset to this PADI IDC. Which also reflects in the testimonials of the IDC candidates. Each single one of them mentioned him!

It’s time to have a look what Lucio has to say about this February 2019 PADI IDC;

I worked with Camille as IDC Staff Instructor during the February IDC in Malapascua, Philippines. What first stroke me about Camille was his professionalism when we communicated via email. Without knowing me, and despite this was my first experience in staffing an IDC, he just trusted me. This attitude was of course confirmed during the IDC, when I needed just a few tweaks to proceed in complete synchrony with him with a decent load of responsibility.

At the same time, he indirectly taught me a lot. He just knew where to stress a concept and where to let a candidate make a mistake. It took him one or two days to understand exactly every candidate’s profile, including their weaknesses and their strong points. This allowed him to teach adaptively and, as it turned out, extremely successfully. To me, he was the most open and helpful, available for consulting at any moment and keen to let me interact with the candidates during the classroom hours and the practical classes. He would never keep a thing for himself.

His mastery about the PADI system is, evidently, thorough.

This, together with his large experience as an Instructor first and as a Course Director later, makes him a monument of knowledge he’s constantly willing to share.

Finally, there’s a point I really appreciated about Camille. It’s again about professionalism, this time though towards the candidates. Beside being friendly and passionate, he assists them without being too serious or way too mild. He knows he’s dealing with his future colleagues, and he acts accordingly.

I hope there will be further chances to work together, Camille. It will just be a great pleasure.

Thanks for taking the time to write this testimonial Lucio! It’s always nice to receive them. Especially if they come from a peer!

As already mentioned, I’m looking forward being able to work with you again!

PADI IDC Testimonial by Martin

PADI IDC Testimonial by Martin

This is the PADI IDC Testimonial by Martin.  First of all, he’s the guy you want have around when there’s a problem. Moreover, he is always calm, always in control. Most importantly, he always knows what’s going on around him! Certainly a solid Swiss rock!

Martin also participated in the February 2019 PADI IDC on Malapascua. These PADI IDC’s I conduct in conjunction with PADI 5* IDDR Resort ‘Thresher Cove Resort’.

Initially Martin was looking for a PADI IDC with me in Thailand. However, the dates didn’t match. On the other hand, I had IDC dates lined up on Malapascua and they did match. Along came Martin!

PADI IDC Testimonial by Martin

PADI IDC Testimonial by Martin

Martin and his PADI Examiner Sophia. Taken after Martin successfully completed the PADI IE on Malapascua.

Let’s have a look what Martin has to say about this February PADI IDC on Malapascau. Most certainly time to practice your German;

In short, much appreciated that you did take the time out to write this testimonial. It was great having you around. Certainly I hope your diving dreams will come through and true! Moreover, I’m already looking forward meeting up again!

PADI IDC Testimonial by Karen

Here we are back with a PADI IDC Testimonial by Karen. First of all, she participated in the February PADI IDC on Malapascua in the Philippines. I conducted this PADI IDC in conjunction with PADI 5* IDDR Center ‘Thresher Cove Resort’ on Malapascua island.

Karen and her partner followed me around! We have been talking for a long time before they signed up for this PADI IDC. On the other hand, be wary when she has a question! That is to say, it’s not just the one question. She has plenty of them. Most importantly, good on her though! How to arrive at a PADI IDC well prepared. She writes that book every day.

PADI IDC Testimonial by Karen

PADI IDC Testimonial by Karen

Karen with PADI Examiner Sophia after successfully passing her PADI IE. Somebody’s very happy!

Consequently, here we go, with the PADI IDC Testimonial by Karen;

If you asked me, a year ago if I wanted to try diving it would have been a loud and clear “no”.
Today almost one year later, I’m an Instructor. Hard to believe when it comes from a young woman who used to fear the ocean.

When I decided I wanted to do my IDC I was looking with my boyfriend at several different places and reviews of different course directors, – until we found Camille. My boyfriend who I did my IDC with and I looked him up and decided to contact him. After a few email correspondences, we were sure that we wanted Camille to be our course director. We even moved our IDC location so we were certain that we were going to do it with him.

Some people find the theory part of the IDC the most difficult. It always depends on how much you know already and how much you’ve prepared yourself. For me it was the mental development which I find the most important as well that was the most difficult, – but Camille really made it both changeling and exciting at the same time. He was supporting, helpful and the best teacher you can imagine, – always trying different angles to make you understand better.

Camille is not just a great teacher

but he also likes to connect with each student on an individual level that makes his courses so much more real. He is a very talented course director and I really enjoyed having him as mine. He prepared us very well for the IE and with a patient and open mind figured a way of getting all of us to our goals. His always funny and smiling attitude helped getting all of us through some of the more challenging parts of the IDC. His countless experiences and stories made all the theories to a more “human connectable and understandable level” and actually made each topic interesting and important to learn, understand and appreciate.

Today I’m a Dive Instructor and already got my first job for this summer season in Europe. I’m proud of myself and Camille helped me getting where I am now.

It’s important as well to mention our great Staff Instructor Lucio Bellomo. He was absolutely amazing. An amazing instructor, – and his constantly smiling, helpful and professional mindset helped all of us to succeed our IE. He got me thinking of who I am as a person, what my strengths and my weaknesses are and how to become the best possible version of myself as a new instructor.

I will definitely keep contact with Camille

and Lucio and forever be grateful for everything they taught me. They made me think of the most important thing about being an instructor, – not just by following the standards but also teach with passion and with the psychology of diving as an important aspect of teaching, – and furthermore understand how to teach the best possible way. They gave me the best guidance and teaching, – preparing me for the IDC and for that I’m very thankful. Two lovely men that I for sure will miss being around (and helping me when I have too many questions).

Once again, Thank you for the best IDC. I can only recommend choosing Camille as your Course Director.

Thanks for being there Karen. Certainly you made a difference and the course would not have been half the fun without you. In short, an emotional roller coaster it was. With all the ups and downs that go together in that context. It is my pleasure to have met you and be your teacher in this case.

Above all, thanks for taking out the time to write this testimonial. It’s appreciated! Good luck in your further dive career. June 2019, you’re in Greece, rock it girl!

Our PADI IDC Schedule for 2019

Green Fins Assessment Feedback 2019 – Thresher Cove Dive Resort

Green Fins Assessment Feedback 2019 – Thresher Cove Dive Resort

We just received the Green Fins Assessment Feedback 2019 – Thresher Cove Dive Resort. First of all Thresher Cove Resort is now in it’s fifth year a Green Fins dive resort. Secondly, we are proud Green Fins Members. We are and will stay actively involved in many ways to follow their code of conduct. Most importantly, each year we keep improving!

Without further ado, let’s have a look at the Greens Fins Assessment  Feedback 2019 – Thresher Cove Resort;

Dear Dish and Thresher Cove Dive Resort team,

Good day! We are pleased to know that you are still one of those dive and snorkel operators that continuously support and protect our marine resources. You’ve been a member of Green Fins since 2014 and we greatly appreciate that. As you know, a yearly assessment will be conducted to assist and help you improve your environmental standards.

As for this year, the team conducted an assessment last May 17, 2019. We really appreciate the crew being very cooperative, friendly, and approachable. The assessment was set up easily and we were provided with the information that we needed regarding your diving activities. It was excellent to see the team working so well together and acting as environmental role models. Balt gave very complete boat and pre-dive briefings, which evidently had an impact on the diver’s behaviour underwater.

The Green Fins assessment follows a set criteria based on the Code of Conduct. This allows the assessors to highlight areas of high environmental risk which is then reflected in the assessment score which is representative of the risk posed to the environment. The scores range from 0 (minimal environmental impact) to 330, so the lower the better.

Thresher Cove’s assessment score history goes as follows:
2014: 233
2015: 222
2016: 161
2017: 176

Green Fins Assessment Feedback 2019 - Thresher Cove Dive Resort

Green Fins Assessment Feedback 2019 – Thresher Cove Dive Resort

For this year your score is 136, congratulations! By implementing the points discussed during the feedback session and maintaining the great work you are already doing we are confident that you can lower your score and reduce your overall environmental impact. The following are the action points that you need to work:

1. Implement a sunscreen policy in the shop

We have agreed that you will do your best in any ways to advise your guests to use the sunscreen one hour before the dive or use it after the dive. Also, provide alternative sunscreens that don’t harm the coral reef ecosystems such as Human Nature.

2. Don’t provide single-use water bottles to guests

It is important for the resort to serve as a role model on the consumption of single-use plastic. Replace the selling of plastic bottles and encourage your guests as much as possible the use of reusable containers in the shop as well as in the day trip dive.

3. Use caps in all tank

Even though most of the tanks were using caps, there were 2 still using tape. Please make sure that all tanks use caps.

Balt mentioned he was interested in being a Green Fins Ambassador since we are not sure if the programme will be running, he and all the staff, are encouraged to do the Green Fins Dive Guide E-Course to be certified as a Green Fins Dive Guides. Remember that to take the course is free, there is only a charge of 24 USD to issue the certificate.

Thank you very much for the time and cooperation, and for being so welcoming during the assessment. If you have any questions about any of the above points, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to working with you on next year’s assessment. Find the group photo attached.

With kind regards,
Laverna and Juliana

Green Fins Cebu
Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Region 7

Thanks to Green Fins for coming over. We are looking forward to another year of being proud members and ambassadors of Green Fins! We involve all recreational and Professional dive courses into the Green Fins philosophy!

Justin with PADI Examiner Sophia after successfully completing his PADI IE on Malapascua

Without further ado, let’s see what Justin has to say;

I did my dive master at Thresher Cove and decided to stay on and continue with my IDC. I didn’t do any research on the course director prior to.

But with my luck Camille turned out to be a great Course Director. He’s extremely knowledgeable and will put in the extra time with people when needed.

Camille teaches with a great deal of comedy, which lifts the stress level from the room.
Camille showed a lot of excitement and care during and after our IE. You could see on his face and by his reactions how much excitement he got by us all passing each section of the IE.
I hope I get the pleasure in crossing paths with Camille again in the future. Wish you all the best in the future with many more successful IDC and IE.
Also I would like to give a big shoutout to Lucio who was the staff instructor for the course. He also spent the whole time with us from day one right to the end. Gave everyone as much attention as needed and was always willing to answer questions.

Thanks for taking the time out and writing this testimonial. Much appreciated!

PADI IDC testimonial by Aaron

We received this PADI IDC testimonial by Aaron. He participated in our February 2019 PADI IDC. Right here at PADI 5* IDDR Resort ‘Thresher Cover Resort’.

Initially Aaron was looking at a different location for completing his PADI IDC.  However, it was clear for him that he wanted to participate in a PADI IDC with PADI Course Director Camille Lemmens. Subsequently he followed Camille to Malapascua since that fitted into his time frame. But, did he like Malapascua and his PADI IDC?

In short, of course he was! For example, he loved seeing the thresher sharks. On the other hand, he enjoyed the vivid amount of small critters and macro live as much! As a result, he enjoyed both tremendously, bot the course and Malapascua. To sum up, it was also my pleasure to have you Aaron! Thanks for the trust you put in me, it’s much appreciated. Most importantly, I was lucky enough to find a new friend and fellow instructor.

PADI IDC testimonial by Aaron

PADI IDC testimonial by Aaron

Aaron with PADI Examiner Sophia after he successfully passed his PADI IE in February 2019

In conclusion, let’s have a look at the PADI IDC testimonial by Aaron;

I joined one of Camille’s IDC in Malapascua, Philippines in February 2019. An amazing place for an IDC. This island is all about diving and one of the only places in the world where you get Thresher Sharks guaranteed.

I planned to do my IDC for a few years. Every time I found a course and a place that fit my schedule, the course was canceled or moved to a time that didn’t fit into my busy life. This happened three times. Reaching out to course directors was not the easiest thing either. I got lot’s of “maybes” and “I don’t know” after a long time waiting and sometimes they didn’t even reach back to me.

Not Camille. From our first contact, he was very endeavored to write back as fast as he could. I really did have quite a few questions. I did a cross over from CMAS and was therefore not really familiar with the PADI system. Camille answered everything to my satisfaction really fast and if he was unsure, he contacted PADI immediately. The service was excellent and convinced me to do the IDC with him.

The course itself was a pleasure.

I was lucky to end up in an awesome and very international group. Camille was teaching with fun. Although he has loads of experience, he didn’t seem to get tired teaching the same stuff over and over again. He was able to fit all the individual needs and found ways to make everything for everyone understandable. What I really liked about his course is that it didn’t feel like studying. After a few days in the classroom and in the pool, I could see progress in knowledge and an improvement in my skills. I was amazed to see such big steps just by doing stuff and not actually sitting down and trying to remember books by heart.

Camille has a wealth of experience and he knows exactly what the examiners want to hear and what not. He is the best in preparing you for the IE. At this point, I also want to mention and thank our amazing staff instructor Lucio Bellomo who also did an amazing job in assisting Camille and answering tons of our questions.

Thank you guys for the good times! I would do it again with you!

Once more, thanks to you Aaron. For joining this PADI IDC and for writing this testimonial. In the same vein, without you it would not have been the same experience!

To sum it all up. Good luck daddy! Meanwhile you’re right back in Austria with a lovely new born daughter. However, ready as always to tackle the new dive season in Greece. Go Aaron, go!
